📸 Call for Entries: The Safe Photography Project Contest is live: Apply now and receive several prizes

Presented by Restless Development in Collaboration with Co-Hosts Including the World Health Organization, the Governments of Colombia and Sweden, UNICEF, and the UN Special Representative on Ending Violence

What does it mean to YOU to feel ‘safe’? Restless Development invites 12 young photographers to join a movement aimed at ending violence against children, offering a fresh perspective on an issue affecting millions worldwide.

In November, world leaders will convene in Colombia for the inaugural Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children. Restless Development, in collaboration with co-hosts such as the World Health Organization, the governments of Colombia and Sweden, UNICEF, and the UN Special Representative on ending violence, seeks to ensure that the voices of young people are at the forefront of this crucial dialogue.

Through ‘Safe’ – a powerful immersive photo exhibition – we aim to narrate the diverse experiences of feeling safe across different corners of the globe.

Restless Development is issuing a call to discover 12 young creatives (aged 18-24) from all regions, who will each craft a photo-essay capturing what “safe” signifies to them and their communities. From the images submitted by each participant, a standout ‘hero’ photograph will be selected to headline the final exhibition, prominently displayed at the historic Ministerial Conference. Additionally, the complete photo-essays will be showcased online via a prominent global media outlet.

Submissions must be sent in by Friday, April 19th. For any inquiries concerning the Safe photography competition, please reach out to us at safe@restlessdevelopment.org.

A distinguished panel comprising photojournalists, media editors, survivors of violence, activists, and young individuals from Restless Development’s global network will review all entries.

For the 12 chosen participants, the following benefits await:

  • A stipend of $1250 to support your involvement in the project.
  • Comprehensive training, mentorship, and individual guidance throughout the project.
  • Exhibition of one of your images at the global Ministerial Conference in November.
  • Publication of your final photo-essay online, potentially reaching national and global audiences.

Don’t miss this opportunity to lend your voice and vision to a cause that resonates with millions worldwide. Join us in shaping the narrative and advocating for a safer world for every child.
